Why do we have a hospice society when New West doesn't have a hospice?
We get this question a lot, the answer is in the needs of the community!
There were hospice beds provided in New West until 2008.
Those beds were relocated to Delta, leaving New West as the only major city in Metro Vancouver without a hospice facility.
The NWHS is working hard to persuade municipal, provincial, and federal partners to work with us to open a hospice facility in our community.
With our population forecast to expand rapidly in the next decade and the increasing proportion of ageing seniors, we feel it is urgent to open a hospice in New West!
