World Hospice and Palliative Care Day

October 11 marks World Hospice and Palliative Care Day (WHPCD), a unified day of action in support of hospice and palliative care.

The theme for 2025 is Achieving the Promise: Universal Access to Palliative Care. There are three main pillars that address the need for better palliative care around the world.

  1. Palliative Care is a Human Right—Let’s Make It Universal
  2. No One Should Suffer Without Support—Universal Access Now
  3. Health for All Includes Care Until the End—Integrate Palliative Care into UHC

More than 60 million people both adults and children need palliative care services every year with over 80% living in low-middle-income countries (LMIC’s) countries.
