It was a pleasure to meet with Mayor Patrick Johnstone today to discuss the Community Grants program!

The New West Hospice Society is grateful for funding through the City of New Westminster. Thanks to our grant, we have been able to continue delivering essential, compassionate hospice programs to the residents of New West.

The Community Grants program works with and enables community partners to deliver essential, creative, and innovative programs, support, and services. As a community organization the New West Hospice Society is vital to the livability and vitality of New Westminster. We are a community leader in championing the Compassionate City Charter. Exemplified by the dedication to our work building a grassroots hospice initiative from the community level up.

Funds from the Community Grants support our programs, volunteer initiatives, and have allowed our organization to focus on community relationship building.

At our meeting today, we discussed previous support from the city in helping us find hospice space in New Westminster. At the City Council meeting in January, a motion was approved including the directive to: “work with the New West Hospice Society and external partners to explore potential locations for hospice services.” The motion was met with full support.
