NWHS Board members Wendy Johnson and Karl Moser met on Friday with MLA Raj Chouhan and his Constituency Advisor Alyssa Huppler-Poliak to brief them on our progress and goals.
They shared the history of NWHS’s efforts to support people at end of life, normalize the dialogue around death, dying, grief, and loss, and the goal of providing hospice beds to the community. Our goal of bringing a hospice to New Westminster starts with conversations like these, bringing awareness to elected officials and being a voice for the community. New Westminster does not have dedicated hospice beds and with a rapidly growing, as well as aging population, the need for one has never been greater.
Raj was grateful for the background information, was supportive of the NWHS’s goals and ended the meeting saying “I look forward to working together with the NWHS in the future.”
We want to thank MLA Chouhan and Constituency Advisor Huppler-Poliak for starting off 2025 with us.
